Grape must fortified with cognac = deliciousness in a glass. Pineau des Charentes is a traditional vin de liqueur from south-west France that more people need to know about. The grapes are Colombard and Ugni Blanc, pressed just hours after picking, to create a liqueur thatÕs extremely fresh and grapey, with hazelnut, dried fruit, and clove aromas coming from the five-year-old cognac. Viscous and very refreshing, perfect as an aperitif, with foie gras, or with cheese after a meal.
