Hey Free Rangers,

So much going on around here, and around the world, that words and thoughts seem to get jumbled on their way to the page. So, here’s our latest public response to our most recent online (1-star) review. Otherwise, feel free to skip down to the sale at the bottom.****************************Hi Piea,I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy your visit here, and your concerns are certainly valid. We have a fairly unique shop that isn’t organized like any other of which I am aware, and particularly on a tough day, after our toughest year to date, it can be frustrating to watch people walk in, not want to talk at all, and then walk out with nothing. In this job it’s much easier and more satisfying to help someone than to not be welcome to do so. So, when I asked if there was something you were looking for that you didn’t find, that was an honest question. Market research. I was genuinely seeking to know what interests you, and about if you found holes in our collection (which certainly exist). I apologize if you misread my tone. Asking if you were just killing time, yes, admittedly, that was obnoxious. I’m sorry about that, and you’re absolutely right that it was totally unnecessary. But I’m usually right about that one, and many people to whom I’ve asked that same question (in that same tone) have chuckled and agreed. As for the woman at the counter, she is far kinder and more personable than I, but is also someone you only addressed to announce that you were leaving the shop- a business that you hadn’t actually patronized. I’m not going to reprimand a valued team member for not thanking you for… what exactly? For your thanks in her general direction? So, let’s also place that as my fault. I own the joint, the buck stops with me. It’s been a rough couple of years and insisting on being coddled for not shopping here seems a big ask. We’ve created QR codes leading to our website that are available on the chalkboard outside, and on business cards and postcards available in multiple locations inside, so that people can inspect as closely as they like online. If you can find it in your heart to allow one of us to give you a 90 second lay of the land here, so that you might see the many many things that separate us from a sea of generic liquor stores, we’d be more than happy to give you a tour, and then leave you alone to purchase something or not. Otherwise, you might want to try Heights Chateau, where I used to enjoy shopping before I had my own store, because I usually knew what I was after and nobody there would try to talk to me.If you live around here, eventually somebody will tell you that ours is the best wine and whiskey shop in town. You’re more than welcome to try us out then, regardless of your unfortunate review above. Cheers,
Jack
*****************************So, this week’s online sale is a double feature. We’ve re-posted the deal on 5 single serving cocktails, by Greenhook GinsmithsSt Agrestis, and Death & Co., at the lowest possible price without giving them away. Click here click to read the full story and access the sale page!

Now, for the new one. We’ve carried Brooklyn’s own Van Brunt Stillhousewhiskeys for years. Their Bourbon, Rye, and especially Single Malt have long been staples here, and their limited release, Campfire batch #1 (2018), was particularly intriguing and we hoarded up quite bit after the local retail community had their crack it. This is why- to the best of my knowledge- we’re the only shop in the world that still has some for sale. Unlike the name may indicate, Campfire is a delicately smokey take on their usual style. Since we recently received Campfire batch #2 and batch #3, it seemed a good time to offer a solid discount on all 3, along with another recent issue, Van Brunt Stillhouse Bottled in Bond Bourbon
