| So Free Rangers, The numbers around here have been promising, and either the energy out there is stabilizing a bit, or we’re just becoming completely desensitized to it all. Given the negative online reviews, and the decreased level of jackassery on the sales floor, it is also possible that we’ve finally alienated the last of those who normally make our days harder. We’ve also been tasting a significant amount of old and rare bottles to see which have made it successfully here to the future with us and are therefore worthy of the shop’s back wall and/or the website. We can also confirm this: the wine still works. Glorious stuff, this fermented grape juice. It really is bottled art that exists at the crossroads of aesthetic and industry in an unparalleled way, and the number of factors that have to align to achieve a truly great bottle is staggering, humbling. Speaking of which: step right this way! For those of you who are newer to the list, welcome to our Magical Mystery pack offer! This is a fairly unique opportunity to pick up some old and rare wine (in some cases, irreplaceable) at well below market value. The 6-packs detailed below are drawn from bottles lost and found in the considerable depths of our cellar, and from my unruly personal collection (and past auction purchases), randomly packed in Free Range 6-bottle carriers. These bottles could be literally anything. You can expect fair market value to significantly exceed your per bottle price, but many of these are so rare, in these vintages, that it’s difficult to corroborate value with none available at retail anywhere on Earth. All wines are at least a few years since harvest, and many are 20+ years in bottle. These bottles are almost entirely red, and lean heavily toward new world fruit sources (OR, CA, WA), though not always new world styles. Vintages range from 1991 to 2017. Absolutely none of these are cast-offs, and the vast majority were originally purchased with personal consumption in mind, but as we’ve discussed, I own far more wine than one could ever possibly consume. We’ve tried to make as many packs available as possible, but fair warning, these packs sold out pretty quickly the last few rounds. If you would like 5 bottles of wine and 1 whiskey (instead of 6 bottles wine), please click the applicable box when selecting your pack(s) on the landing page. And while we can’t take orders for specific bottles, if you’re open to a white, dessert wine, and/or bubbly in your mix, please say so in the notes at checkout and we’ll do our best to accommodate. Please hit us up directly with any questions you may have. Otherwise, click the link below, and we’ll start assembling 6-packs! And if you’re reading this from out of town, we can ship via Fedex to about 14 states these days, or we’re also happy to hold your order in our cellar until you’re back in town. A note on older bottles: As some of these corks have been in bottle for decades, you may want to invest in a two-prong cork puller, or be prepared to excavate a potentially crumbling cork with a conventional wine key. Contrary to some very ill-informed info out there on the interwebs, an old cork that breaks has nothing to do with a wine being “corked” (which is actually the presence of unrelated chemical taint). Many of the finest wines ever to pass my lips came from bottles whose corks just barely made it here to future. I mean the stuff is made out of dry tree bark. But seriously, always let us know if you believe a wine you receive is flawed, and we’ll take a look and make it right. (!) Click here for the hidden sale page (!)
