| I Have Sinned Against You Free Rangers, It’s not actually as dramatic as all that, but I am aware that in a rare instance there was no e-mail last week from this location. Sorry about that. Strange days, my friends. But when this many strange days get strung in a row, it might be time to consider that it isn’t so much the days as the user. You ever have a million things going on at once, but none of them are at a level of certainty such that you can act on any of it, or even tell anybody in earnest about your potential plans? Well, if not, I can confirm that it’s a trying place to live and that cavernous uncertainty is completely unsustainable. Timing is everything, and I apparently am currently a vortex in a temporally anomalous wormhole, trapped near the inner circle of fault, sixty iterations off the central finite curve. But I still have to get up every day and go to work, stock shelves, sell booze, write the occasional e-mail. It’s exhausting. Except the writing the e-mails part. I really do love this. And it is still the closest thing to therapy in which I currently engage. Continued thanks for reading! I suppose most generations have felt that they were on the precipice of something larger and/or catastrophic, and in a way they all were. Besides my own personal and business related disquiet, these looming elections and their profound consequences hang over all of us, while the exponential crescendo of irrational exuberance that currently bolsters most financial markets seems poised for generational reckoning. It’s a lot. However, I can confirm that the booze still works, in its own capacity, most of the time. Some of which is also super delicious. Speaking of which…. Without further existential crisis, this week’s online only sale will feature a tiny producer of cleanly made classic Barolo that we carried briefly, sold out of quickly, and feared was gone forever… or at least for the vintage. Then our friendly neighborhood distributor imported a bunch more and offered a fairly generous 6 case price, the fruits off which we’ll extend to you below. Camparo Barolo Boiolo 2016 is made from organic grapes and comes across far lighter on its feet than what one might expect from this most famous region for Nebbiolo and a vintage known for its power and potential longevity. Currently showing bone dry fruit, medium body, tart cherry, dry leather, and deceptively pervasive tannin on the long woodsy, lightly spicy finish. A perfect pairing for richer dishes, braises, stews, and general holiday-type-time meal use.
