The quickening is upon us, and our to-do list still contains uncheck items beginning in April… of 2019. But life barrels on like a runaway train. Ferris Bueller knew it. Almost everybody with whom I’m regularly in touch seems to have something more than their usual burden. Might be a decent time to check in with your peripheral (perennial) people. Turkey day is coming up and many of us are thinking this way already. Getting by is still the new kicking ass, or as Bob Zimmerman put it, keep on keeping on.
Big thanks to those who came out to taste with us (and Scott Sampler!) last week. This joint will be a work in progress for some time to come (yeah, you’ll likely hear that a lot). It has been profoundly hopeful and encouraging to have in-store tastings in the mix again. It’s usually a blast having the excuse to taste with industry friends both new and old(er-ish). And sharing still is half the fun. So, we’ve got two great FREE in-store tastings THIS WEEK and you should come check ’em out!
This Thursday, November 16th (4:30-6:30pm), our friend Nathaniel will be in the shop pouring you FREE tastes of:
* Under the Wire Alder Springs 2018 is one of the finest Champagne style wines ever to emerge from CA, by Morgan Twain-Peterson (whose Bedrock wines we also love).
* Kelley Fox Mirabai Pinot Noir 2022 is the latest intro level release by Kelley Fox, a true farm-to-bottle artist producing some of the most elegant and compelling wine(s) on Earth.
* Kelly Fox Vermouth 2020 is a medium sweet, wild foraged elixir, unlike any other herbal infused wine concoction of which we are aware, born from the challenging fire-ravaged vintage of 2020.
This Friday, November 17th (4:30-6:30pm), my old pal, Evan from Bowler- the man responsible for teaching me that Pinot Blanc is not the Coors Light of wine- will be here in the shop pouring you FREE tastes of:
* Lopez de Heredia Tondonia Reserva 2010 is a legendary vintage of one of the oldest and most renown reds from Rioja (if not all of Spain).
* Koehler-Ruprecht Riesling Kabinett Steinacker 2021 is a delicious, medium sweet white that is particularly delicious with spicer meals, but has the balancing acidity for more savory fare.
* Terres Dorées (J-P Brun) Beaujolais L’Ancien Nouveau 2023 is the only BN we’ve ever really enjoyed as it’s not the flimsy strawberry-banana water that often gets passed off under this checkered category. This Beaujolais Nouveau has more depth and character than is typical, while still being a perfect Turkey Day pairing.
All of the above 10% OFF in-store on tasting day(s)!
