Hello Free Rangers,
Serious stuff this week. It’s a buyer’s market. But that doesn’t mean you should send us a plea for discounted Pappy (though we may actually do that anyway, as we’ve hoarded up a bunch). We’re doing quite well these days here at street level (thanks everybody!), but there are strange things afoot at the production and distribution tiers of the booze biz. More on that in minute, but first, this week’s FREE in-store tasting is with our Croatian pal, Dalibor, who will pour a trio of Croatian wine(s), including a literal freak of nature: Plavac Mali Sivi, which is a skin contact white made from vines that previously produced red grapes. The resulting wine oddly tastes exactly what that sounds like, a skin contact white with the soul of a natural red. Very cool juice indeed. Surprisingly versatile.
Please join us this Thursday, February 27th (5-7pm) for FREE tastes of Kozlovic Malvasia 2023, Skaramuča Dingač 2019, and Bura Plavac Mali Sivi 2021. All Croatian wine is 10% off in-store on tasting day!
Now, back to the buyer’s market. We’re getting offered items in case quantities to which we’ve become accustomed to receiving few or zero bottles per vintage, and many things that were highly allocated a couple of years ago, are reasonably available right now. As such, we’ve put together a page of insane rarities at discounts we never thought we’d be able to offer. To many collectors, the wines are mostly household names from Burgundy and one blue chip Italian red. The whiskeys are amongst our most requested ever, besides one tiny production Single Malt that seems to have been released on closeout.
We haven’t seen more than a coupla bottles at a time of High West Midwinter Night’s Dram in years, and then a few weeks after receiving our tiny annual allocation, another two cases just showed up. Would’t have believed it before they were actually in hand. So, who wants the best price we’ve offered on these in a decade?
Thought we’d throw in some EH Taylor Small Batch Bourbon, and this tiny production American single malt about which we have very little info besides that it seems to have been released on closeout, so the price below is less than 1/2 of what the producer intended for retail. And no, we don’t know how they’ve gotten away with calling it “American Islay”, but for that price, does it matter? They are available at the sale price ONLINE ONLY!
