Here We Are Free Rangers,
At the end of the (year’s) road. So many top whatever lists of blah blah blah and greatest stuff, things, and happenings of the year. Not here, folks. We press on haggard but undeterred. All new fresh (as a daisy in December) material for this here space, though if we’re being candid, both sales below are holdovers, but they’re also really good ones. But now, we take our time so nonchalant, and spend our nights so bon vivant, as a fella once said. The strangest of days have evolved into a slow staccato exponential existential cacophony. So many times it’s seemed no further point to go from what just happened, and yet essential inertia rolls forth through the amoral universe which has nothing for or against any of us. Ah how these arbitrary systems of numbers with which we’ve lassoed a year’s time cyclically and deliberately find us to pools of melancholy reflection. Hence all of the lists and things, if we really have to write them all down. I suppose this is as close as I get. So, here are my top 77 wines of the year… nah, wouldn’t do that. But I can confirm that the wines most consumed by cast and crew here at Free Range in 2025 were not coincidentally three of my favs for everyday use (and all Chardonnay): Our go-to reasonably priced white Burgundy: Jean Dauvissat Chablis and two Oregon whites, Brittan Chardonnay and Walter Scott Chardonnay Cuvée Anne, all available on the website and in the shop right now (see below for current discounts)! P.S. Song of the year, which has been linked in this space at least a half dozen times, is Jesse Welles’ “Will the Computer Love the Sunset”. All other answers to this question are incorrect. Holy cr@p, that guy is cool.
Speaking of perpetual motion and the tunnel vision that can follow, we’re not always great at catching up newer arrivals to our scene and are often surprised at what may have slipped by some earlier adopters. So, for those of you who don’t know, we have built-in year round discounts, both online and in the shop. Any 12+ bottles of wine gets 10% off the top, 15% off 12+ of the same wine. Any spirits mixed in at 12+ total bottles are 5% off. Now, as of last week, we bumped up the online discounts on all wine in-stock for (*most of*) the rest of the year to kick in at 6 bottles instead of 12. So, ONLINE ONLY any 6+ bottles of wine gets you 10% off, and/or 15% off 6+ of the same wine. No codes, no page of selected items, just hit the website and start clicking! THIS OFFER EXPIRES AT 10AM 12/31! No fair waiting til NYE to get in on this. It’s usually chaos that day, and one never knows what we’ll sell out of. Get ahead of it, just a day, for the betterment of us all. Happy hunting.

Oh, AND our Elijah Craig Free Range 11 Year Bourbon sale is still live, and offering the lowest price at which this delicious exclusive will ever be offered! 3+ bottles gets you $39/btl, so grab one for yourself, and check two giftees off your list at the same time. Or $49 for a single bottle. There is a bottle open in the shop, so please feel free to pop in and ask for a taste. However, you are simply not going to find an older single barrel bourbon for fewer dollars anywhere.
