A small victory over the forces of Mordor shone bright like the first glimpse of life giving sunlight after the longest of winters in the Balrog’s subterranean lair. Sure, Southern agreeing to deliver to us 2 days per week- after unceremoniously reducing our delivery days from five per week to one- is meeting us less than halfway, but getting any kind of a concession out of a corporation of that size shouldn’t be understated. Don’t jump a gift shark in the mouth. And the giftiest part of this particular shark is that our bet wasn’t called, and with this second weekly delivery date comes our previously selected and purchased Elijah Craig Free Range Toasted Barrel (Barrel) Proof Bourbon 8yr– clocking in at 131.7°– which arrives today, and we couldn’t be prouder to offer them to you at the lowest price at which they will ever be sold.
We’ve purchased and sold through a bunch of great Heaven Hill barrels, mostly Elijah Craig, over the years, but this one is really special. The only way to get any Barrel Proof Toasted Barrel in your shop at all is to buy a whole freakin’ barrel, which is what we did, and apparently it was one of only three barrels shipped to shops in NY Metro. Of the roughly 3,300 stores in NYC proper, ours is rarified land. I know where one of the other two barrels landed and will likely go pick up one of theirs for my personal collection as well. We don’t have identical tastes, but his barrels are usually worth the time, though ours are generally tastier. But we’re talking about our barrel here, so please buy one (or three) from us and we’ll tell you where to find the second best barrel that came to town, in the second coolest borough of this fair city (no shade to the mayor).
