Lorem Ipsum Free Rangers,
Dominus ominous. Carpe diem. Veni vini vici. Caveat emptor. And a partridge in a pear tree. But seriously, Free Rangers, thunder doesn’t only happen when it’s raining and it’s well beyond time to cease perpetuating this absurd lie. Who does it serve? The classic rock radio stations of my youth who relentlessly hammered such falsehoods into my resistant cranium? Sure, in this post-facts era it seems a minor infraction, but it’s just so easily verifiable as untrue. But the words and structures of our lexicon have long since been worn down to the nub, rendering many indistinguishable from those falling in succession shot through and beyond the vanishing point. It’s hard now to see back to the peak of definition that will never come again, when the Sea of Stories was endlessly (it seemed) robust and pure. This shapeless handful of years late seems like a lifetime, or at least a Main Era. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run. … but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant. . . . Perhaps we were simply trapped in a residual tape loop from some vestigial incarnation. When one hits the road in earnest as a Hunter Thompson jukebox these things are bound to happen from time to time, all these many long years later. But this one went fairly expressly from homage to plagiarism, or quote if we’re being generous. And why not? Many fine books have been written in prison. … Wait… what was the question?
Now, this week’s FREE in-store tasting is with our friend, Amanda, from whom we procure the wines of Hansjorg Rebholz. His super cleanly made and impeccably farmed bone dry Riesling and Pinot Blanc have long been staples around these parts for many moons, along with his delicious but prohibitively expensive single vineyard Rieslings and otherworldly Pinot Blanc. Please join us this Thursday, April 9th (5-7pm) for FREE tastes of Rebholz Dry Riesling2024, Rebholz Pinot Blanc2023, and the insanely rare (and delicious) sparkling insanity that is Rebholz Sparkling Riesling Extra Brut 2017. This week’s ONLINE ONLY sale is a continuation of the celebration over our latest exclusive barrel purchase: St George Free Range Barrel Aged Gin 2026, not to be confused with our St George Free Range Barrel Aged Gin 2024, which are nearly extinct, but available in a 2-pack via the link below. Here you’ll find 10% off all St George Bottles in stock, 20% off 3+ bottles of St George Free Range Barrel Aged Gin 2026, and some percentage that we didn’t bother to calculate off the aforementioned 2-pack. They are quite different from one another, and are separated by over 2 years of barrel age, though I genuinely can’t decide which I enjoy more. These are profoundly versatile spirits for their depth and intrigue. With just ice and seltzer, these remarkable sprits show striking variation at differing levels of dilution. And big thanks to everybody who sold though our Magical Mystery Packs fairly quickly! We’ve made a few more available and hope that everyone who wants in gets there this round.
