Que Pasa Free Rangers,

Holy crow, we’re late on the Monday e-mail. But these things happen. The abrupt end to a sublime week away tracked increasingly as I returned from relative paradise to awake dropping onto the side of the New Jersey Turnpike, like John Cusack’s character in Being John Malkovich. Cashed in all my miles to get one of those lie-flat seats on United, the only catch being that it arrived at Newark at 5:something in the morning. The latter turned out to be alright, as the first few flights landing tend to get their checked items reasonably quickly, as was the case for my styro 12-bottle shipper packed full with tasting bottles of top secret old/new stock of a few of CA’s most exiting and enigmatic wines of yesteryear. After covering like a champ while I was deep breathing amongst the redwoods and dear friends, Derek took off for his vacation about fifteen minutes after I returned, and I have opened the shop every day since. … What day is this… man? So here we are, Wednesday night, and still… Not sure where I was going with this and now it seems the only way out is down. Meet you at the next paragraph.

Now, this week’s FREE in-store tasting is with our friend, Kate, from All Points West Distillery. She’ll be here in the shop TOMORROW (likely today, by the time you’re reading this especially if you keep better hours than the operator of these fingers), Thursday, April 30th (5-7pm). Please join us for FREE taste of All Points West Bone Black Vodka and Cathouse Pink Pepper Gin alongside the just back in stock Kill Van Kull Rum, and a pair of their whiskeys. All of the above are 10% off in store on tasting day only!

And it continues to be a buyer’s market out there and crazy discounted cases of three tasty local whiskeys just fell in our lap. These Great Jones Bourbon(s) and Rye seem to have been earmarked for full barrel sales, and while each bottle is labeled with a number, nowhere on the bottle does it indicate which contains Blue Corn Bourbon and which contain Red Corn Bourbon. So we put a blue sticker on the back of the Blue Corn bottles, as they come out of the box. All of this may be why they’re being absolutely dumped on closeout and we grabbed what we could, along with this tasty 6yr Rye which does say right on the bottle what it is that you can expect inside. As fans of several Great Jones whiskeys before, we jumped on these. It seems they were originally intended for a $44 retail shelf price, but we paid far less than we should’ve and so should you! We put them on the shelf at $39, but THIS WEEK ONLY in old school e-mail offer style, you can grab any of these lovely local whiskeys at $29 per bottle, or a 3-pack (one of each) @ $69 ($23 per bottle!). If you’re interested, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL here (now!) and we’ll allocate bottles in the order in which the e-mails are received.
