Ya Know Free Rangers,

It’s a funny thing that these e-mails which draw the most notice, comments, and compliments from our loyal local friends also seem to be the same that earn us larger amounts of unsubscribes. You can’t please all of the people all of the time- and admittedly that’s never been high on the priority list around these parts (unknown). We are (quite proudly) not for everybody. When we venture too deeply, too regularly into the abyss of the most frustrating of customer interactions, we also see an increase in regulars being concerned that they’ll “end up in the e-mail”. As always, by the time you’re one of those who has bothered to consider our experience here in the shop are generally too conscientious to ever inflict any of the insult our injury that end up detailed in this space. It takes a lot more than a coupe of well intentioned silly questions. We love to discuss the idiosyncrasies of particular bottles, regions, and producers; and occasionally of the industry in general, which is much more absurd and complicated than it really needs to be. And those who read our posted signs around the shop are almost never the ones that need to read (and follow) said signs. And don’t worry about the dogs. Signs and rules are for bipeds. Treats are for dogs. And we definitely have those for your buddies (no purchase necessary). Typing of which, big congrats to little Lady Chicken (the dog) who recently won “Best Ol’ Pal” at Brooklyn Heights Association’s Dog Show. That’s a good dog!

Now, this week’s FREE in-store tasting welcomes back to the shop our pal, John Grammer, of Skin Contact wines, from whom buy some of our nerdiest bottles. As always, he’s bringing some delicious wines by true stewards of the Earth. Two shelf staples here, Marteaux Guillaume L’ Indegene– a bright dry Champagne of 100% Pinot Meunier and Sabbia Gialla– a dry savory amber wine, are joined by two brand new arrivals: Vins Voctor Anne Marie– a spritely chillable red, and a classic deep Syrah from Saint-Joseph in the northern Rhone. So please join us this Thursday, June 18th (5-7pm) to enjoy FREE tastes of all of the above as well as 10% off in-store on tasting day only!

And, this week is the last hurrah of The Big Whiskey Sale! Once again, sold outs have been removed, and along with the remaining legends we’ve added 9 new entries at serious discounts including Weller Special Reserve, Blue Spot Irish Whiskey, Orphan Barrel Barterhouse 20yr, and a couple bottles of the exceedingly rare and delicious Daftmill Single Malt Scotch Winter 2007. And don’t sleep on our exclusive Elijah Craig Free Range Bourbon 2-pack, originally released in 2020, which contains 2 different 8yr single barrels from different floors of different rickhouses. There is no substitute for side by side tasting to explore and enjoy your palate. Whether you’ve yet partaken or not, you’ll want to see the full list. Kind of shocking that some of these bottles are still available at these prices…

* And as always, if you’re out of town, please feel free to buy now while the price is right, and we’ll hold your bottles until you’re back!

Happy hunting!

Cheers,
