Hey Free Rangers,

Thanks much to all who have offered kind words of encouragement and well-wishes during our first week and change in the new shop, which will remain a work in progress for some time. Apologies also to those with whom I may have been (even) short(er than usual) through this same stretch. This many consecutive 10+ hr days leads to more than a bit of tunnel vision, and I am now having brief flashes of conversations I clearly misunderstood recently. It was very obviously our Elbling you were seeking, of which we are awaiting fresh cases, though in my defense you insisted it was a Gruner. Regardless, my brain should have made that hurdle, and my bad if I sounded like a freakshow about it. Also amongst the chaos, rather sweet notes of praise came down for our e-mail content from ’20 to ’22. I suppose that was a singular time during which everything was supremely raw, certainly inluding this space. And without the excuse that we were holding it all together for everybody following along, as much as for our team and the little business we bolster, it’s hard to say that we would have made it here to the future with you. Cheers y’all. But who the hell has time for nostalgia when there’s a brand new space to nest, and of course there are the looming holidays. Brace yourselves.

And now, this week’s ONLINE ONLY sale:
We haven’t honestly asked enough questions on this one to give you the full story, but when 2018 Brittan Vineyards single vineyard Pinot Noir(s) pop up this far below usual cost, we buy every bottle that isn’t nailed down and ask questions later. Most of you know Brittan as one of our favorite producers of Oregon Pinot and Chard that easily compete with Burgundian counterparts two or three times the price. Since their last round of (perfectly reasonable and well earned) price increases, we still stock their Estate Pinot and Chard amongst the staples (most of the time), but haven’t picked up every release of their Estate block releases- previously referred to as ‘single vineyard’, which isn’t entirely accurate as all of their fruit is estate born. Brittan Estate Pinot Noir 2018 is vinified with the intent to snapshot the house style with a nod toward youthful drinking, though even this release ages remarkably well. Brittan Pinot Noir Gestalt Block 2018 produces some of their darkest and deepest fruit, resulting in an intensely concentrated wine with notes of graphite, thyme, sage and a hint of vanilla on the nose, leading to deep exotic berry cacophony, accented by dry cacao. Brittan Pinot Noir Cygnus Block 2018 is planted entirely to Swan Clone Pinot Noir- a specifically NorCal variety. As a wholly successful experiment, the juice shows a lot like high quality CA grapes grown very effectively in OR. Here you’ll find aromas of cherry and red plum accented by violet, pepper and baking spices, pomegranate, and a flutter of citrus. We just tasted through the line (several times, over a few hours), and are of the belief that even before the absurd discount below, this trio represents some of the best drinking per dollar of which we are aware. Click through to see our offer versus the price at the vineyard!

Brittan Pinot 3-pack contains 1 bottle each Estate Pinot ’18Gestalt Block ’18, and Cygnus Block ’18 at $99 (usually $159 on the shelf). Brittan Pinot 6-pack contains 2 bottles each Estate Pinot ’18Gestalt Block ’18, and Cygnus Block ’18 at $175 (usually $318 on the shelf).
