Holy Crow Free Rangers,
So much… where to start.
Oregon focused Magical Mystery packs (with a little help from their Californian friends) accreting as I type. Don’t mind the caution tape in the shop friends and neighbors, but seriously, no molestar. Project underway. Offer to follow in the next note. It’s a real one. Stay tuned.
More and more these days, new whiskeys arrive on the market and seem to be fairly limited, often strictly allocated, and then all of sudden more is available. There are numerous industry machinations and retail consumption cycles that lead to these eventualities. Occasionally at the end of the run of a previously limited item, all remaining cases in the wholesale tier slowly swim upstream to our market, and then even more of a once limited item shows up. Rarer still, these are followed by an inventory reduction price. The grim meathook realities of the American marketplace care not for the quality or value involved in the bottle (or that eventually these items will near extinction as remaining bottles increase in price), only that the warehouse space they inhabit is needed immediately for incoming pallets. As such, we can offer an absurdly low price on one of my favorite new American whiskeys of the last few years, by our old pal Nicole Austin at Cascade Hollow Distilling: Dickel x Leopold Rye! This balanced and beautiful collaboration blend once appeared on a previous sale list at $99 (and a previous retail price of $129, of which this tasty juice is worth every penny), but this week it is available online at $69 per bottle! This week’s FREE in-store welcomes to the shop my long time wine pal, Diana, who now sells us some of our favorite wine from Oregon and Italy. Three of them will be shown (and are on sale) in store on tasting day, and are on sale online all week :
1) Monte Del Frá Chiaretto di Bardolino 2023, a delightfully fresh Italian dry rosé which is equally comfortable with or without foodstuffs.
2) Les Brebis Pinot Noir 2022, an elegant Oregon Pinot Noir affectionately known around these parts as Sheepy Wine (see label below).
3) White Walnut Estate Dundee Hills Chardonnay 2021, a deeply Burgundian effort from one of the most exciting new labels to cross our gaze (and palates) in the last couple of years.
Please join us Thursday, August 22nd (5-7pm), for FREE tastes of these lovely aforementioned bottles. 10% off all, 20% 6+ (mix & match) on the website all week!
