Hey Free Rangers,

We’re deep in the tunnel now. As I type, ConEd is somewhere between the cellar of our new building and the 7th ring of Hell under Atlantic Avenue from whence the energy source is tapped. I picture Dark Elves in Lil Nas X style cowboy gear riding massive saddled electric eels, but I haven’t slept much. And the Great Machine that presides over the details of our liquor license will shake its Magic 8 Ball, in three to six weeks, and send us down one of two very different paths. Don’t you worry, we may already be on Plan C, but have contingencies in place for Plans D through Q. With a project of this scale (which is infinitesimal by modern standards) one has little choice but to dive head first into the Abyss, ready for anything. Because invariably what is about to occur will consist largely of shards of your various plans which you get to assemble while inverted, rapidly descending into darkness. Wait, how many metaphors went into that mixing bowl? And there’s no way that bowl was clean when we started. Holy cr@p, I need a nap. How are you all holding up these days?!

So, while it has been some time since we’ve mentioned Elisabetta Foradori in these (virtual) pages, her self-titled flagship (red) Teroldego has been a mainstay on our shelves since day one here at Free Range, when said shelves were much smaller, holding far fewer bottles. It was one of the wines I knew I’d carry before I ever had a shop. It was one of the very first natural wines of which I was aware, and definitely the first that I deliberately regularly sought out. It was also one of those wines that was often the gateway to a knowing smile and a deeper conversation with many a wine nerd during my formative years. Foradori Teroldego is a medium+ bodied red which shows juicy vibrancy and that classic fruit/earth balance one finds in so much of the best Italian wine.

The main reason she, and this wine, have not been discussed here in years is that they’ve become quite popular and not only have there not been quantity discounts available, but several times in recent years her wines have been in such short supply vs demand that they’ve been allocated, and we’ve only been able to keep them on the shelf *most of the time* because of our purchasing history with the line. Fast-forward here to the future in which we were recently offered a favorable rate on 10 cases of Foradori Teroldego 2021. As usual, our first thought was to pass on that discount to our faithful e-mail listers, so here ya go!
