Jellō Free Rangers,
The energy out there at street level these days is as focused and even handed as a Michael Bay joint, if not so inherently incendiary as a coupla weeks back. A far more accomplished writer (and better adjusted human person) than this one recently in the shop seemed a little too happy-go-lucklily devil-may-care for someone so profoundly plugged in, in a moment like this. A poor man’s cover band of his response to my incredulous eyebrow on the matter is that we had (have, at that point) six weeks blissful vacation before the onslaught of what will certainly require constant considered vigilant opposition on many fronts all at once. We’ll call it differently resigned, albeit enlightened. I was kinda jealous, but we’re in the tunnel here now, and have been for some time, at least since the American turkey population was considerably higher anyway. I wonder how long it takes poultry farmers to replenish the supply each year….
So, this week’s in-store tasting, hosted by our old pal, Evan from Bowler, features the legendary Rioja reds of Lopez de Heredia, whose label has looked the same since 18-something-er-other. As most familiar with this historic label know, the house holds back their bottles far longer than is required by Rioja regulations, such that current releases are 2012 and 2013 while many other houses are releasing their 2020s and 2021s. The history and execution of these wines is unparalleled making Lopez de Heredia the classic Rioja producer, in our humble opinion (in which we are far from alone).
One doesn’t often get to taste these kinds of juice for free, so please join us this Thursday December 12th (5-7pm), for FREE tastes of Lopez de Heredia Bosconia 2013, Lopez de Heredia Tondonia Reserva 2012, and fresh from the cellar, Lopez de Heredia Tondonia Reserva 2005. The tasting trio are available at 10% off in-store on tasting day, and our entire inventory of in-stock Lopez de Heredia Tondonia Reserva and Bosconia are ONLINE ONLY at 10% off, or 20% off 6+ bottles (mix & match).
