From the producer: "Influenced by the eau de vie techniques of our founder Jörg Rupf, master distiller Lance Winters developed an unprecedented approach to whiskey making—focusing on the incredible flavors that can be coaxed from barley malt with meticulous pot distillation. Spirits are our form of self-expression, and St. George Single Malt Whiskey is a testament to the enduring power of making something as well as you possibly can, even when it takes time for others to appreciate the value of your approach.
To create this year's Lot 23, head distiller/blender, Dave Smith selected 26 distinctive casks from our whiskey library, incorporating Kentucky bourbon barrels, apple brandy casks, French oak casks, and California Sauternes-style and Port casks. We sourced from barrels ranging from four and a half years old to the oldest single cask, twelve years old. This blend also includes cask blends dating back nineteen years.
St. George Single Malt Whiskey is an elegant expression of everything we love about whiskey. You'll find butterscotch, fruitcake, orange oil, walnuts, and baklava on the nose. The palate opens with dark chocolate and espresso before revealing bergamot, clove, lingering whipped cream, and fresh ginger snaps on the finish."
