Holy Crow Free Rangers,
It’s just chaos out there. Anybody else notice that infrastructure, utilities, and most major corporations seem to be crumbling entirely? And the ones that aren’t disintegrating before our eyes have constructed so many barriers that the smallest and most egregious infractions alike are impossible to combat in any real way. Smaller companies too seem to be hiding behind company policy rather than doing right. Most corporations seem to behave like Bricks & Minifigs at this point. We are currently being [REDACTED] by ADT- who is supposed to care about our security yet the facts of their “service” smells like fraud. And we hoped to switch to a new POS provider, [REDACTED], whose tech inconguencies caused us to abort transition prior to onboarding. There is profoundly little recourse in the world today for anybody without an unlimited legal budget, which is of course almost exclusively said large corporations who aren’t going to sue themselves (and their top investors who aren’t going to sue their own pockets). And then there are the various City agencies and departments with whom we’ve tussled. We have thrice had appointments to have our water meter fixed/replaced and have a reader attached to the outside of the building, which we were informed we are required to have over a year ago. The last tech who was here just bailed without a word in the middle of the gig and we haven’t been able to get anybody to come back since. Yet somehow without any functioning meter at all, our water bill keeps going up. They are literally just making up numbers. The last time I called, they would only connect us to payment options, and said that we’re not even allowed to speak to the department that manages the physical gear, but that they would get the message to the proper department. That was about a month ago. Since then, just crickets. We may have a new contact with the City who may be able to help, so fingers crossed. … It’s getting harder and harder to make an honest living in this country without selling your life to a Fortune 500 company (is that still a thing?), assuming you’ve gone to the right schools and they’ll have you (preferably mired in student loan debt so they can better control you). I would’ve made quite a bit more money had I sold everything to invest in weapons manufacturing and private prison companies immediately after the last presidential election, because that’s the society we live in. I suppose I also would’ve made more money putting every dollar in this business into Pokemon cards instead 15 years ago, which would’ve been an absurd but profitable decision from which no human life would’ve been extinguished in the name of revenue. Dark days, my friends. But it’s sunny most of the time, so I’m sure it’s fine. … Who else needs a drink?
Hey Derek, what’s on tap for this week’s FREE in-store tasting?! Derek says it’s Tip Top canned cocktails this week. These are fairly faithfully rendered single serving classic cocktails in a fairly tiny can at higher proof than most, as they are meant to be poured over ice, as opposed to those designed to be poured directly into one’s face. We carry a bunch of them, but our crew is partial to the Paper Plane, Bee’s Knees, and Naked & Famous. Please join us this Thursday, August 6th (5-7pm) for FREE tastes of all of the above (and likely another flavor or two). Also, enjoy 10% off all Tip Top products in stock on tasting day only! Or 20% off a tiny 6-pack (one of each flavor)!
And as an added bonus, Derek added the above deal to a sale page, so you’ll have access to said sale pricing all week on the website! There is no limit, so stock up while the stockin’s good. Check it out here:
