You Know What’s Funny Free Rangers,

When you’re riding an outdoor elevated stretch of the F train, the late afternoon sun cascading through the car, the Manhattan skyline voguing in golden hour hues, and the shuffle in your ear pulls up a track featuring the delicate but deliberate bow hand of an ex. Suddenly it feels as if she’s standing right behind you. The power of the shuffle is not to be trifled with. Whether the Sonos, the iTunes, the Spotify, or the 99 disc changer, an acute angle can be inextricably planted in your mind’s path. Really transports you back, which in this case- at this point- is mostly pleasant, regardless of how it ended, and that she didn’t let you… er… me… us(?) say goodbye to the dog. I have never met a creature whose flatulence had better comedic timing. She could turn a tense silence into uproarious laughter in the flash of a considered squeak. Chloe the dog was one of the greats. Her mom and I had our moments, the best of which were as good as they come. She once wrote a song about me; the musical lady, not the sweet old white bearded black lab. Granted, I’m biased, but it was really good song. Sadly, I don’t have a recording, and nobody else will ever hear it. It was nobody’s fault really. (Mostly my fault by all relevant accounts. I hope I didn’t ruin her forever on those first two Dawes records.) Good times. Great oldies. WCBS FM. Cousin Brucie gets it. Though I don’t believe Bruce Morrow was ever on 107.3, so I may be conflating references here, but within the genre and time frame. I stand by the truth of the image. Holy cr@p, I loved the radio growing up. I was a huge nerd and dug into the history of it, was completely blown away that War of the Worlds was a real live broadcast that actually happened, and I found microfiche in the library of contemporaneous newspaper articles. … Wait, what were we talking about?
Brittan is back! For those of you who have been with us for a while, you know how much we love the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of Brittan Estate in the rolling hills of McMinnville, Oregon. A relatively young vineyard, the majority of whose vines were planted in 2008, had hit an impressive stride by their 2014 vintage, and have since been bottling some of the most compelling Pinot and Chard of which we are aware in the world at their price. The soil of this hillside estate is primarily composed of glacial deposit and volcanic material. It’s farmed organically and is LIVE certified sustainable. The resulting wines show empirical quality of fruit and hold a deep sense of time and place. I would generally expect to pay two or three times the price for wines of this quality from France, with which these compete quite favorably. Brittan Estate Pinot and Chard are legitimately two of our very favorite wines to drink in the shop, and we can drink pretty much anything.

Not only was the 2019 vintage a charmed one throughout the valley, and the team at Brittan did some of their very finest work to date, but the multi-case discounts are back from their local distributor which allows us to offer them to you fine folks at well below standard retail! So, this week only and as always ONLINE ONLY, we’re offering Brittan Estate Chardonnay 2019 and Brittan Estate Pinot Noir 2019 at $35 per bottle (usually $39), or 6+ bottles at $29 each. Or grab 12+ bottles for less than $24/btl and get one FREE Magical Mystery bottle from my personal collection (which could be literally anything).
