Hello Free Rangers,

Every day we wake to see what season it might be. In this post polar jet stream era, one really never does know, and that Doppler guy has an exponentially looser grasp on predicting increasingly erratic weather systems. The few recent spring-like days have seen a massive increase in randoms coming into the shop just to kill time. Our shop is neither a phone booth nor a coffee shop (much respect to Kareem and crew @ Absolute Coffee next door), and going into any retail place without the intent to purchase anything just is not something a decent, conscientious person would do (over a year into a global pandemic). If someone has genuine questions to ask about any of the bottles that we carry, I’m game all day, but those who don’t want to talk, and wander in aimless circles, while pawing at random items they aren’t going to buy, and impeding our ability to restock, I may very well get a bit prickly. As usual, I get that I’m largely preaching to the choir here, and that people that actually need to hear this don’t read these e-mails. Sigh… Some days are longer than others around here.

As many of our whiskey nerds already know, the Four Roses barrel program has been discontinued for New York, and those two we were able to acquire, will be the last we’ll see indefinitely. Between supply issues, demand surges, and changing regulations and policies (at the state and producer levels), the contemporary whiskey landscape is perpetually in flux. Most recently, our friends at Heaven Hill, from whom we buy our Elijah Craig barrels, began and abruptly ended the barrel program for Larceny Bourbon. We were fortunate to taste through a number of the fewer than a dozen barrels that were offered to New York, and that Larceny Free Range Single Barrel Bourbon we selected just walked through the door. May we offer you a discount on a bottle or two? How ‘bout a trio of the most recent Heaven Hill releases? Or maybe one of a tiny number of sets of 6, including one each of every Heaven Hill Free Range Single Barrel we’ve yet released?!

Our Larceny Free Range Single Barrel Bourbon hits the shelf at $39, but this week only, it’s $29.

The 3-pack: 1 bottle of our new Larceny FR SB + 1 each Elijah Craig FR 8yr Warehouse N and EC FR 8yr Warehouse X.

The 6-pack: 1 Larceny, both Elijah Craig FR 8yr, and 1 each EC FR 9yr, EC FR 10yr, EC FR 11yr – one bottle each of all Heaven Hill single barrel bourbon(s) we’ve ever released. This is a rare, limited library release of the full tasting set, that’s not likely to be repeated before our 10th anniversary (currently finishing up year 8).
