Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up. Buttercup is marry Humperdinck in little less than half an hour…
So much happening, where to begin. We recently tasted barrel samples and selected our next two Free Range single barrels, a 9 year Elijah Craig Bourbon, and a coveted Old Forester Barrel Proof Bourbon. In June, I’ll run down to Kentucky to select a couple barrels at the source, a Sazerac Rye and a 1792 Full Proof Bourbon. Our buddy, Mike, at Travel Bar picked a 1792 Full Proof last year, and it was legitimately one of the finest whiskeys to pass our collective lips during that particular go ‘round the sun. Some other fun exclusives in the works to talk about soon.
Also, many of you have heard various splashes of a fairly fluid story involving our little shop moving to the brick building on the corner of Atlantic & Hoyt. There are so many moving parts and the occasional immovable object, the latter currently being ConEd. Though we had jumped through all demanded hoops by two Fridays past (including $2500 in deposits on 10 meters that don’t exist), we are still awaiting- without explanation- a service call to understand why half of the building has no power. We’ll get there, but holy hell, what’s a tax paying proprietor gotta do to get a little juice in this joint?!
In the micro, Derek is in Iceland, Marcie’s in Chile, and Wesley is out with Covid (says she’s not feeling too bad, just tired), so please be patient with the current skeleton crew, particularly if it involves technology and I’m the only one in the shop.
(Previously) speaking of whisk(e)y, the two monster distributors, at the very end and very beginning of the year, like to quietly dump otherwise unheard of quantities of allocated whiskeys, hence the unreasonable stack of Yamazaki 12 Single Malt and Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky currently residing at the back of the sales floor. And Yamazaki 12 took yet another shocking price increase, directly after our purchase, and now costs us a minimum of $136/btl wholesale. So below is very likely the last time we’ll be able to offer them for $139 per bottle! Lots of other best of year pricing on Suntory, Mars, Nikka, and Akashi whiskeys below.
Happy hunting!
