Hello Free Rangers,

It seems like just yesterday that I wrote one of these. That’s because the last one went out on a very late Thursday, after skipping a week in the middle. I really try to have these land on Monday(s), every Monday, but the schedule has been suffering under the increasing weight of everything else. Sorry about that, and thanks for not busting me on it (too hard). We’ve actually scored a couple of minor moral victories of late, but I’d be a profound masochist to tempt fate by elaborating much farther on that front. Please just raise a hopeful glass in our general direction, and you’ll be the first to know when there’s actual news.

Saw Jeff Tweedy twice in three nights at Brooklyn Made, helping remind me why I still live in this godforsaken town. It’s really nice to see a great songwriter in a 500 capacity club instead of the usual large theater (or small arena) hidden amidst the cacophony of the full band. Storytellers style, highly respectful/attentive audience, it was glorious. And one can’t discount the complete absence of the Manhattan crowd deep in the flats of Brooklyn, and how much that reduces the jackass factor for the evening. Granted the average age in a room like this one for a songsmith grayer even than I is likely at least in the mid-40’s, but the only people I had to ask to keep it down were the bartenders and the door guy. It’s a solo acoustic show for crysakes. Nobody came to hear you guys.

Well, the e-mail sale is still a day late (but zero dollars short), and it’s rude to jump a gift shark in the mouth. So, we’ve left live last week’s sale page featuring 10% off our Kings Co Barrel Strength Bourbon FR13 and 10-20% off Buglioni ValpolicellaRipasso, and Amarone.
You can access those here:

And the new addition for this week is 10% and 20% discounts on New Zealand’s Kumeu Village Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These elegant Burgundy-style wines represent excellent value, have been staples for some time, and these delicious intro level wines share very similar quality with the fairly pricey and highly regarded single vineyard bottles under the same label. Unfortunately like so many unreasonable values, they will both shortly take price increases from the producer/distributor, so we thought we’d offer discounts on the lower price and then order more for the shelves ahead of said cost increase on the 1st of the month. To this end, enjoy 10% off Kumeu Village Pinot Noir ‘20 and Kumeu Village Chardonnay ‘22, or 20% off 12+ bottles (mix & match).
