Fever Pitch Free Rangers,

People are freaking the Eph out. Things at street level in our little corner of the world are heated, simmering, volatile, like a lead vat of cesium exposed to air. The chaos seems to come in waves, which are breaking with increasing frequency, though seemingly at random intervals. Honking, children screaming (not in a joyful way), random altercations in the street, and trash blowing in the wind all seem to be surging. The garbage tide of electric uncertainty that seeped up through the pavement in early 2020 has found new company in the precarious precipice of Election Day (week?!) transmutation. And at sundown on November 1st, it was too warm outside to have the shop door open. But I’m sure it’s fine.

I recommend (as always) animal rescue videos to ease the savage mind, occasionally some idiot Trumper injecting the orange orangutan’s presence at a comedy show, unprompted, and swiftly being handed his own ass before being thrown out of the club. Also, whatever the hell Neil Degrassi Tyson is talking about right now is generally awesome and shot through with wisdom and wonder. And I know I’m behind the times, as this ridiculous dude has 10M followers, but watching Nigel Ng’s character do his best Malaysian Don Rickles all over Gordon Ramsay while the blond bag of Wellington tries to make breakfast sandwiches on a portable stove is absolutely glorious comedy gold.

Now, I don’t recall the source of this pristine piece of editing advice, you have be prepared to cut your favorite scene, but in their honor, the next paragraph has been redacted. Unrelated, thanks to those of you who so quickly snapped up our Favorite Chardonnay 6-packs. Apologies to those who missed out, and here’s another chance! Here’s that story again, with two Chards swapped for other chards we also love ((very few) changes in bold).

At some point over the last half decade, I’ve become somebody’s grandma. All I ever want to drink is expensive chardonnay. As such the shop is way overrepresented in these, and many are nearing the end of our inventory. So, without further ado, here’s a 6-pack of our favorite chards of the year at a serious discount. Here you’ll find 3 delicious and varied Oregon Chards (two with a bit of bottle age), 2 very serious classic white Burgundies by unreasonably young upstart, Jean Dauvissat, and 1 stunning outlier (well on its way to being a classic) from Patagonia, and the hands of Jean-Marc Roulot. This pack contains juice by no fewer than 3 of my very favorite living winemakers, and the quality per dollar here is off the charts at the posted sale price. You will also however find that there aren’t many to go around. Check out that deal, and descriptions of each here:

And this week’s FREE in-store tasting is with my old Pal, Roy, who I’ve known since the Apiary days. Apiary was Scott Bryan’s exemplary joint, where Roy was Somm. and sold a ton of my old and rare bottles, which allowed me to pay my rent during my wine blogging (significantly pre-retail shop) days. Please join us this Thursday, November 7th (5-7pm), for FREE tastes of Oregogne Chardonnay 2019, a lovely Burgundian style Oregon Chard by friend of the shop, André Mack, alongside above mentioned Jean Dauvissat Chablis 2022, a classic true Burgundy, and a show stopping cameo appearance by André’s rarest wine, Lamb of God Pinot Noir 2019, which is unavailable anywhere else in the world (no shit). Whether or not you can make it to join us for this one, all tasting day wines are available at 10% off, or 20% off 6+ bottles (mix & match), on the website this week only!
